Agreement

All understand that driving is a privilege and not a right. All understand that a parent or guardian can take away teenager's license at any time up to his or her 18th birthday.

All acknowledge the importance of seatbelts. All understand that it is the driver's responsibility to verify a safe, secure, engaged seatbelt for EVERY passenger of the car.

All acknowledge that automobile accidents are the #1 cause of death for teenagers. At no time will teenager or parent compromise their ability to drive with alcohol, drugs, communication devices (ie: cell phone), food, or beverages.
Teenager understands that he or she is not allowed to drive people under the age of 20 or drive at all between 11PM and 5AM, for the first 12 months of his or her license. The teenager will not ask to violate this law, nor will the parent give permission to the teenager to violate this law at any time.
Teenager will abide by the laws of the State of California at all times. If teenager is convicted of violating any California Law, said teenager will forfeit his or her right to drive for ___ month(s). If teenager is convicted of a second violation (while under 18), teenager will forfeit his or her right to drive for ___ months.
All understand that the bail, fees, penalties and increased insurance costs resulting from teenager's behavior/driving will be the sole responsibility of the teenager. Failure to pay these fees to the satisfaction of parent will result in the forfeiture of his or her license for a time specified by the parent.
Teenager will maintain a GPA of _____, per agreement with parents. Should GPA fall below this standard, teenager will be financially responsible for additional insurance costs associated with the lower GPA.
Teenager will keep the vehicle clean, will replace whatever gas is consumed with his or her personal driving, and will alert parent immediately if mechanical problems occur.
Teenager will not drive tired, angry or intoxicated at any time.
Parent has the right to deny the use of the car at any time. If ever asked by either parent to surrender the keys to the car, the teenager will do so immediately.
Teenager will not drive the car with people not approved by parent.
Teenager will not drive after consuming alcohol or drugs.
Teen will not EVER accept a ride from another driver who has consumed alcohol or drugs within the last 24 hours. Parent, upon request, will arrive to drive the teenager home, rather than allow teenager to accept a ride from the irresponsible driver. When such a situation occurs, parent and teenager agree not to discuss the situation until after a sufficient cooling-off period.
Teenager will not carry (or allowed to be carried) any illegal substance (including alcohol), in the car at any time. Parent will hold teenager responsible for any illegal substance in the car, regardless of its owner.
Teenager will inform parent of any ticket, accident or police encounter. Teenager acknowledges that failure to do so could result in a DMV license suspension and/or forfeiture of license.
Teenager will never allow someone else to drive the vehicle without express permission from parent.
There is no smoking allowed in the vehicle at any time (this is now illegal in the State of California, when minors are present),
Teenager will not make any adjustment to the car's audio system while the car is moving.
Teenager will not use a cell phone at any time while driving. (It is illegal when under 18, and it is unsafe at any age.) Once over 18, teenager and parent agree to pull vehicle over to a safe place before attempting to make a cell phone call.
Teenager agrees to provide transportation to other family members at parents' request. Failure to do so will result in loss of driving privilege.
